Balanced decision making: How to live a balanced life

Balanced decision-making is a process that uses decision-making tools to output a balanced decision to fulfill a balanced life.

The equation that outputs this decision is called the Balanced Life Equation. I created this concept while exploring and researching decision-making, starting back in 1995 with my decision-making software, Balancing System 1.0.

In 2017 while writing my book In or Out: A Practical Guide to Decision-making. I introduced Balancing System 2.0.

Today in 2021, I am introducing my refined concept; let us call it Balancing System 3.0.

Balancing System 3.0

A balanced life is like walking on a rope. To live a balanced life, you have to make balanced decisions.

Here is where the Balanced Life Equation (BLE) comes in, an equation I created to help you make balanced decisions and live a balanced life.

Balanced Life Equation (BLE)

A balanced life is defined as your life according to your personal statement—where you balance your time and resources according to your priorities, which are set to activities and your circle of communication with a set of location and time frame.

Decisions through BLE equals balanced decisions to live a balanced life.

The BLE is formed of seven domains:

  1. You (body, mind, and soul)
  2. Personal statement (vision, mission, core values, objectives, and goals)
  3. Circle of communication
  4. Time
  5. Resources
  6. Activities
  7. Location

Balanced decision-making is the process of maturing your decision to fulfill your BLE.

The Balancing Matrix (BM)

The seven domains of BLE form the Balancing Matrix (BM).

The BM categorizes the seven domains into two levels according to importance: level 1 and level 2.

Level 1 domains

They are essential for any decision-making process, so they are called core decision domains.

  1. You
  2. Personal statement
  3. Circle of Communication

Level 2 domains

They are optional in the decision-making process, so add each one according to the case.

  1. Time
  2. Resources
  3. Activity
  4. Location

Conclusion

Living a balanced life is a dream that everyone wants to have. To live a balanced life, you have to make a balanced decision. Here is where the Balancing System comes in handy.
